Where does childcare take place?
This depends on the type of service you choose!
For sitter-only coverage, we work with whatever setup makes the most sense for your event. Some couples prefer our sitters to supervise children throughout the ceremony and reception, while others provide a separate room or designated area for childcare. We’re happy to adapt based on your venue, timeline, and overall vision.
For couples who choose our Lounge Experience, we design and set up a dedicated childcare space where children can stay for the duration of the event. This creates a seamless experience for parents—simply drop off your little ones before the celebration begins and pick them up at the end of the night.
No matter which option you choose, our goal is to create a childcare setup that feels intentional, convenient, and tailored to your event.
What activities do you offer?
Every event is different—which is why we tailor activities based on the ages, interests, and needs of the children attending your event.
We work closely with couples to curate age-appropriate entertainment that keeps little guests engaged throughout the celebration. This can include crafts, books, games, toys, and other hands-on activities designed to keep children entertained in a fun and safe environment.
Whether your guest list includes toddlers who need quiet play options or older children who love interactive games and activities, we’ll help create a setup that fits your event perfectly.
Are your childcare providers background checked and trained?
Absolutely. The safety of your little ones is our top priority.
All The Little Lounge childcare providers are thoroughly background checked, CPR and First Aid certified, and have prior experience working with children. We carefully vet every sitter to ensure families can feel confident knowing their children are in safe, capable, and caring hands throughout your event.
Do you provide snacks or meals?
Yes—this can absolutely be added to your childcare experience.
We can work with couples to create snack pack options or stock the lounge with small bites to keep little guests happy throughout the event.
Because every group of children is different, this is offered as a lounge enhancement and requires thoughtful planning to account for dietary restrictions and allergies.
Why are your sitters tiered—and why do rates vary?
At The Little Lounge, our sitter tiers—Magnolia, Peony, and Hydrangea—reflect each provider’s level of experience, skill set, and childcare capabilities.
Some events may require sitters with more hands-on experience depending on factors like the number of children attending, their ages, or the overall level of care needed throughout the event. For example, events with infants, larger guest counts, or more complex childcare needs may require more experienced providers.
Sitter assignments are made based on your event needs as well as provider availability, ensuring your family and guests are matched with the best possible fit.
Our tiered model allows couples to get the right level of support for their event while maintaining the high standard of care we’re known for.
What happens if a child gets upset or needs their parent?
Our team is experienced in helping children feel comfortable, safe, and engaged—but we also understand that little ones can have big feelings, especially in new environments.
If a child becomes upset, our sitters will first do everything they can to calmly comfort and redirect them through age-appropriate care and activities. If a child continues to feel distressed or specifically requests their parent, we will immediately contact the parent or guardian.
Before your event, we collect parent contact information so we can quickly reach them if needed. Your child’s comfort and safety will always come first.
What is the booking process?
Getting started with The Little Lounge is simple. First, you’ll submit an inquiry form where we’ll gather details about your event—things like your date, venue, estimated number of children, age ranges, and the type of childcare support you’re looking for.
From there, we’ll follow up within 48 hours with preliminary pricing (based on our base rates) and may request a few additional details so we can better understand your event needs. If you’d prefer to talk through your vision, we’re always happy to hop on a phone call as well.
Once we have everything we need, we’ll create a custom proposal tailored to your event.
To officially reserve your date, a 50% deposit is required. The remaining balance is due 30 days prior to your event.
Why does event childcare cost more than traditional babysitting?
Planning childcare for a wedding or large event is very different from hiring a traditional babysitter for a night at home.
Our team is often caring for multiple children at once in an unfamiliar environment, surrounded by new faces, busy timelines, and the natural unpredictability that comes with events. It takes experienced, capable caregivers who can confidently manage those responsibilities while ensuring every child feels safe, comfortable, and engaged.
What many people don’t see is the work happening behind the scenes. We spend significant time coordinating with couples, understanding event logistics, creating custom childcare plans, communicating with venues and vendors when needed, and thoughtfully preparing for each event.
Our pricing reflects both the level of care we provide and our commitment to ensuring our sitters are fairly compensated for the important work they do.
When it comes to childcare, this is never an area we believe couples should cut corners on. When you book with The Little Lounge, you can fully enjoy your event knowing your youngest guests are in trusted hands—and that every detail has already been thoughtfully handled.
Are tips expected for your childcare team?
At The Little Lounge, tipping is never expected. We intentionally price our services in a way that allows us to compensate our sitters fairly for their time, experience, and the care they provide.
That said, tips are always appreciated and are a wonderful way to recognize exceptional service if you feel your childcare team went above and beyond during your event.
